UMMS – GSMC STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
G.S. Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital will accept applications for elective training from UMMS students subject to certain permission from Indian authorities which we will arrange for. These include permissions from:
1. Medical Council of India , New Delhi
2. Government of India , Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (Department of Health).
To enable us to do this you should arrange to send:
1. Six completed copies of “ GSMC / UMMS PROFORMA 'A'
2. Six passport sized photographs
3. Six photocopies of your passport
4. Six copies of reference/recommendation letter from the Director of International Medical Education at the University of Massachusetts Medical School , Worcester , MA 01655 , USA
5 . A bank draft for Rs.5000/- in favor of the - Secretary, Medical Council of India payable at New Delhi to enable this office to get permission from the above authorities to allow you to undergo the elective training at these institutions. **
6 . A bank draft for Rs.500/- in favor of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai - payable in Mumbai (Bombay) - this is the application processing charge. **
** Bank drafts will be paid through the “GSMC – UMMS Student Exchange Fund” held by DJST, GSMC..
7. HOUSING: Though some rooms are reserved for foreign students in the boys’ hostel. there is no guarantee that we can provide accommodation when you need it, as the demand is quite high. Air conditioned rooms can be rented in the boys hostel for Rs. 5000.00 per month You should write to the warden of the boys hostel, Dr. Yuvaraj Bhonsle, dryuvaraj@gmail.com and explore the possibility of vacancies.
