Research

Department of Anatomy has received the prestigious grant from Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India, New Delhi, under its "Funds for Infrastructure Development in Science & Technology" (FIST) program. With this grant a Trinocular Research Microscope with image analyzing facility has been set up in the microanatomy laboratory. This microscope has facilities for Phase-Contrast and Polarised microscopy, Dark field and Fluorescence imaging which will help in quantitative image analysis of various tissues.

The department, at the outset, has planned to undertake the following projects using this facility:

1. Quantitative image analysis of anterior lobe of pituitary gland.
2. Intraparotid course of facial nerve and quantitation of thickness of its sheath.
3. Thickness of fascicles in median nerve.

Further with this grant, computers are set up in three teaching cubicles with a Local Area Network (LAN) connection to a server which will help in Computer Assisted Teaching - Learning process.
