Undergraduate student awards- 2008

I. Name of the student: Sonal Jain

3rd prize in Poster Presentation at the 1st Asian and 2nd National Medical Student Research conference held at pune from 20th -24th february 2008 for " S.E.A.R.C.H.-Study Exploring Apt Responders to Cardiac resynchronisation therapy in Heart failure patients." Guide- Dr Ashish Nabar, Department of Cardiology

II. Name of the student: Divya Bajpai

1. 1 st prize for “Formulation, Validation and application of a Sense-quantitative scale for assessing psychiatric status of Indian Schizophrenic families” at ‘AVISHKAR 07/08’ organized at Nashik by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in December 2007. Guide: - Dr. S R Parkar; Co-author: - Dr. Sethalakshmi R.

2. 1 st prize at “AVISHKAR-07/08” organized at SNDT Mumbai in February 2008 for “Formulation, Validation and application of a Sense-quantitative scale for assessing psychiatric status of Indian Schizophrenic families”. Paper was selected to represent Maharashtra at the Zonal level led at Nagpur- “ANVESHAN-08”

3. 1 st Prize at “1 st ASIAN & 2 nd NATIONAL MEDICAL STUDENT’S RESEARCH CONFERENCE” organized by Moving Academy of Medicine and Biomedicine, Pune in March 2008 for “Prevalence of psychiatric illnesses in Indian Schizophrenic families as compared to normal (non-psychiatric) controls”. Guide: - Dr S R Parkar

4. 2 nd prize at “Psychiatry Quiz” held by Bombay Psychiatric Society at Seth G S Medical College and KEM Hospital (Intercollegiate) in December 2007

Undergraduate student awards- 2006

I.Kishore Vaigyanik Prothsahan Yojana (KVPY), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India (Feb 2006)
Patel K, Bajpai D, Kedia MS, Mehta SS, Kshirsagar NA, Gogtay NJ. Evaluation of the prevalence and economic burden of adverse drug reactions presenting to the medical department of the Emergency Services of a tertiary referral centre. Bajpai D won the award for the year 2006 and did the project during II/I MBBS. ( A total of 3 students from the institute were short listed for the award- Divya Bajpai, Debanjan Sen and Sonal Jain all from II/I MBBS).

II.Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) awards- “Avishkar”, the MUHS Research Festival 2006 (19 Dec 2006)
1.Kulkarni UP, Muranjan MN, Gogtay NJ, Kshirsagar NA. Saliva as a non-invasive matrix for therapeutic drug monitoring of digoxin in children.- 3rd prize overall and consolation prize in the MBBS (medicine) category (oral presentation). Kulkarni UP did the project was a III/ part 1 student.

2.Kulkarni HS, Dhuri SA, Uchil DA, Rege NN. Anti-hyperlipidemic activity of Linum Ussitatissum and its comparison with atorvastatin. This project won the overall first prize and first prize in the MBBS (medicine) category. Kulkarni HS did the project during II/I MBBS.

3.Dhariwal AK, Prabhu R, Supe AN. Improvement in dexterity of surgical trainees after undergoing the box training workshop for laproscopic skills training. This project won the consolation prize. Dhariwal AK did the project during III/part 1 MBBS

III.Update Ayurveda 2006 (22-24 Nov 2006)
1.Kulkarni UP, Samuel G, Uchil DA, Rege NN. Anti hepatotoxic effects of Tinospora cordifolia and Phyllanthus emblica against ANIT induced liver damage. This project won the best poster award. Kulkarni UP worked on this project during II/I MBBS.

2.Kulkarni HS, Dhuri SA, Uchil DA, Rege NN. Anti-hyperlipidemic activity of Linum Ussitatissum and its comparison with atorvastatin. This project won the best poster prize. Kulkarni HS did the project during II/I MBBS.

IV.First National Medical Students’ Research conference- 5-8 Oct 2006, Pune, organized by the Moving Academy of Medicine and Biomedicine, Pune with support from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, Govt of India
1.Patel K, Bajpai D, Kedia MS, Mehta SS, Kshirsagar NA, Gogtay NJ. Kedia MS won the best poster award for the year 2006 and did the project during II/III MBBS.

2.Davis S, Panchabhai TS, Noronha SF, Shinde V, Kshirsagar NA, Gogtay NJ. Evaluation of the activity of CYP2C19 in Gujarati and Marwadi subjects living in Mumbai (Bombay). This paper won the 2nd prize in the oral presentation category. Noronha SF did the project during his final year MBBS.

V.London International Youth Science Forum 26 July- 10 Aug 2006
Kulkarni HS was one of the 5 students (all science streams) to represent India at this forum.

VI.Radiology quiz- Indian Association of Radiology and Imaging, Vidarbha branch- Dr Vivek Divekar memorial state quiz 15 Sep 2006
Goenka A, Dhamangaonkar AC, and Kelkar P won the 2nd prize.

VII.Psychiatry quiz- Indian Psychiatric Society (Divisional quiz- Mumbai 19 Sep 2006 and Zonal quiz- Rajkot, Gujarat 8 Oct 2006)
Dhamangaonkar AC, Sonawane H won the divisional round and stood 3rd in the zonal round.

VIII.Indian Academy of Pediatrics- 18th National Quiz, New Delhi 7 Jan 2006
Goenka AH, Ghonsikar V won the first prize among 136 medical colleges.

IX.Winners of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Award (KVPY) of the Department of Science and Technology- 2006
