Some of the specialized
facilities available in the department are:
- Early Intervention Program in neonatology:
In this treatment program the therapist works in collaboration with the
neonetologist. The therapist aid in early diagnosis of the infants with
developmental delay. Therapy to help them achieve their milestones and
minimize the motor and cognitive problems is then started immediately.
- Community based rehabilitation in rural
and urban population:
The primary goal here is to implement the domiciliary therapy program
for the disabled people and take the therapy at the patient’s doorstep.
- Preventive geriatrics:
A therapist works in collaboration with the physician to improve the quality
of the senior citizens’ life.
- De-addiction program:
Working towards helping the alcohol and drug addicts to improve their
life habits, treatment of their perceptual deficits is part of the therapists
role.
- Work fitness evaluation:
Evaluating the functional capacity of mentally and physically handicapped
individuals and then to plan the treatment program as per the patient’s
requirements is where the therapist plays a very crucial role.

Sensory integrative therapy program
for specific developmental disorders:
This is a scientifically proved effective treatment program used in
cases of autism, attention deficit disorders and learning disorders.
- Mobilization and home program for cardiac
cases:
An occupational therapist, with the help of very specialized assessment
strategies works to measure and improve the functional capacity of the
cardiac patients. This scientific treatment modality helps in improving
the quality of life of these patients.
- Conservative management and rehabilitation
of hemophilic patients:
Early conservative and late functional management of the hemophilic patients
is the key word here.
