- Lectures are taken for UG, PG, OT, and
PT students. Prepared lecture slides and power-point presentations are kept available
for everyone.
- Weekly seminar, journal
reading, case presentations form part of teaching.

Residents are encouraged to attend various workshops and present papers in conferences
in rotation.
Observers

An observer post lasting from
1-3 month duration is available. The fee is Rs. 3000/- per month. Candidates need
to apply for the same to Dean, K.E.M. Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, 400 012.

Hospital accommodation is not provided & arrangements for stay need to be made
independently.
Library
The
departmental library houses more than 400 books and journals pertaining to our
specialty. Right at the inception we were able to borrow some classics from the
Bacha Memorial Library of our Hospital and these are our prized possessions. A
number of books autographed by the authors are a valued part of this collection.
e.g. "The essentials of Plastic Surgery" by Eric Peet and Tom Patterson.

being an internal examiner for Bombay university 17 times, Dr. R. E. Rana has

Clinical
meeting The
bimonthly Clinical meeting of the Bombay Group of Plastic Surgeons was held by
us in March 2005. The meeting was well attended (by about 60 plastic surgeons)
and well appreciated. The following topics were presented -

lectures- Invited
Talk by Dr.Vinita Puri on "First-aid and primary management of burns" in a seminar
on "Violence on women - A burning issue" on 14th October 2005. The seminar was
organized by the Burns Association Of India and Rotary Club of Bombay, Worli and
well attended by doctors, nursing staff, social workers, NGOs and representatives
of women's organizations.

Lecture by Dr. Vinita Puri on "Management of Burns" at seminar organized by Burns
Association of India at National Burns Center, Aieroli, Navi Mumbai in July 2005.
It was attended by general surgeons, Plastic surgeons, anesthetists as well as
general practitioners working in the private setup from the central suburbs -Thane

Activities
2006
- Department
of Plastic Surgery Reunion on the evening of 25th February, 2006 at Hotel Pritam
da dhabba. Well attended and enjoyed by all.
- Formal
farewell function in the department on the morning of 28th Feb for Dr. R. E. Rana,
our Professor and Head who attained superannuation on 28th Feb 2006.
