2021 Meetings Brief

Three online meetings were held on 9^th March 2021, 3^rd June 2021, 28^th December 2021. The meetings were chaired by Dean (G&K)

The continued COVID situation and the huge second wave necessitated the need to reemphasize control measures, enhance testing and monitor COVID appropriate behaviour. Antibiogram of pus and adult blood culture was presented in the meeting of 9^th March.

In the meeting of 3^rd June, the recent GoI directive on implementation of IPC in the wake of the second wave was reviewed, gaps were identified and measures to fill them were suggested. The guidelines provided by GoM on infection control measures with special regard to mucormycosis were also reviewed. A separate email id has been created for departments to send their surveillance data.

In view of the rising positivity in December 2021, preparation for the third wave was reviewed. The WHO advisory on ‘IPC in health care facilities in the event of a surge in COVID -19’ dated 16^th December 2021 was reviewed. Antibiogram of MICU and NICU for the period June-November 2021 was presented. Strict implementation of pre-treatment of laboratory waste by labs where autoclaving was not being carried out through the microwave machines installed at gate number 8 was discussed.
