Department of Surgical Gastroenterology

HOME:

The Department of Surgical Gastroenterology was started on 1st April 2003. It was the first Department offering this Super-specialty in the Western Maharashtra.

The Founder Head was Dr RD Bapat, who later became the Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Science -MUHS-Nashik. He along with Dr Chetan Kantharia and Dr Ramkrishna Prabhu began this Department.

After Dr Bapats appointment as the VC of MUHS in July 2003, Dr Avinash Supe was appointed as Professor and Head of the Department.

Dr Supe Headed the Department until 20013, when he was appointed the Dean of Sion Hospital.

At present the Department is headed by Dr Chetan Kantharia.

SERVICES OFFERED:

Details of specialty clinics :

Outpatient Clinics are held twice a week on Monday afternoon from 1.00 to 3.30 pm and on Friday from 1.00 to 3.30 pm.

Besides this every Monday from 2.00 to 4.00pm we have Liver Transplant OPD for New patients, and

On Saturday from 10.00am to 12.00pm we have Follow up and assessment OPD of patients registered for Liver Transplant.

On Monday morning one of our residents sits in the IBD OPD conducted by the Medical Gastroenterology.

We also do Upper GI endoscopy and Colonoscopy our days for the same being on Monday and Thursday 9.00am

Details of the Operatives Surgeries performed:

We offer open and basic as well as advanced Laparoscopic Surgeries. Ours is tertiary referral centre for Complex GI Surgery cases, with referral not only for Maharashtra but also from across the country.
