8th GSMC-FAIMER REGIONAL INSTITUTE 2012 – 2014
(FAIMER) is a sister organization of the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), USA and has been successfully running faculty development fellowships since 2001. In June 2005, the Seth GS Medical College was the first to start a regional institute in the world.. The fifth batch was conducted recently in June 2009, . More than 97 fellows have been participating in this program from all overIndia. A total of 93 educational development projects have been initiated in more than 32 institutions all over the country and 77 have been completed. In 2009, GSMc had fellows from Dubai and Nepal. Sixth GSMC FAIMER regional institute is scheduled on 7th June 2010
The objectives of the institute are as follows:-
To enable the educators of health professionals to:
- Make learning relevant to health needs of the community
- Develop positive attitudes towards teaching and learning
- Become effective teachers, proficient in general leadership and management skills
- Develop effective communication skills
- Plan and implement a curriculum innovation project at every parent institute and develop network amongst the medical educators in our country.
