Comprehensive Epilepsy Care Center:
Started in 2001 with the donation from Tata Trust
Facilities available:-
We are doing on average 100 ictal Video EEG monitoring and 1500-2000 interictal video EEG per year. So far, we have done more than 660 epilepsy surgeries which include temporal lobe surgeries, extratemporal lesionectomy, corpus callosotomy, tailored disconnection surgeries and our results are at par with international standards. This also includes Pediatric cases. This center provides this facility at one of the cheapest rates in the world.
Neuromodulation facility:
We started recently and successfully performed the first VNS implantation at a government hospital in Western India.
Fellowship training program in Epilepsy:
Affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Science. We started and have been running the Epilepsy fellowship program in KEM successfully since 2016. We have two epilepsy fellows intake every year.
Software development in Epilepsy :
1. Epilepsy surgery software- web-based Epilepsy Surgery Software: Organizing and securely storing medical records of KEM Hospital's epilepsy surgeries since 2001. With privacy encryption, it's a valuable tool for seamless research and categorization."
2. WIN EPILEPSY – An innovative healthcare application offering electronic health records for patients and doctors, multilingual support, pill / consult reminders, a seizure diary, events near me and many such features. Designed to empower patients and contribute to medical research, it's a charitable solution tailored for the Indian market
Consultant Epileptologist:-
1. Dr. S. H. Ravat
2. Dr. Neeraj Jain

Approximate cost of the surgery is approximate Rs.60000/- or if the patient is eligible for the government schemes e.g MJPJAY then covered under them.
Movement Disorder Clinic:-
Started in January 200?.
Parkinson’s disease and Parkinson plus syndromes are evaluated in this clinic. Other movement disorders like myoclonus , tics , chorea ,dystonia are also being worked up in this clinic.
Cervical dystonia, Blepharospasm, Hemifacial spasm, Writer’s Cramp, Spasticity cases are evaluated and treated with Botulinum Toxin Injections. The cost of the injection is as per the total units required. No charges are taken from the patient for EMG and the procedure.
We started recently and successfully performed the first VNS implantation at a government hospital in Western India.

Centre for Neuropsychology Studies (C.N.S.)
Started in 2001.
Purpose: Research, Training and Academic Presentations in Neuropsychology.
Research:
Training:-
The research activity is carried out all year round. There are at least three major research projects going on in the department at any given time. The major research projects are generally carried out by the Research Fellows in the department and are supervised by one of the faculty Members. The other research activities are carried out by the resident doctors. All the doctors registered for their post doctoral degree course in Neurology have to complete one research project as a part of their thesis and publish at least two papers in an Indexed Journal. The other research work is published as in the annual conferences of Indian Academy of Neurology and Indian epilepsy society and Neurology society of India.
Ongoing projects
Academic Activities
Tuesday – Case presentation by residents
Thursday – Seminar presentation & Journal club meeting
Friday – Neuro-radiology meeting – 9.00 to 10.30 am
2nd Wednesday of every month – Interventional Neurology Meeting – 3.00 to 4.00 pm
1st Saturday of every month – Bombay Epilepsy Meeting – 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm
2nd Saturday every 3 monthly – Presentation of interesting cases pertaining to a particular system (Stroke, Neuromuscular Electrophysiology). All neurology residents from Seth G.S. Medical College, T.N. Medical College, Bombay hospital, Jaslok hospital, Grant Medical College attend and present cases which are then discussed by experienced senior neurologist from all the above hospitals.
